Building successful marriages is one of the unique calls of Family Worship Centre. In order to experience the lasting happiness in marriage, the Leadership of the Church under the leading of the Lord has put together the following policy:
All members (who have done DTS & Membership) of the church preparing to get married must successfully complete Premarital Counseling.
1. The duration of this program is 8 weeks; that is, 8 Classes in all.
2. We offer Premarital Counseling Online to the following categories of people;
Members of Family Worship Centre living Overseas and in distant Nigerian
cities, 500 -1000 Km away from Abuja. That is 7.5hrs - 11hrs drive from Abuja.
Children whose parents are members (committed in the care group) or leaders in the church. Who live overseas or live 500-1000km away from Abuja are also eligible for the online class.
3. We advise that you do not start any wedding preparations until you have successfully completed the Premarital Counseling process. Wedding preparations will include setting a date, engagements, traditional weddings, etc. Doing any of these will presuppose on the entire program… IT WILL MEAN YOU HAVE MADE UP YOUR MIND AND MAY NOT BE OPEN TO COUNSEL.
4. If you are not persuaded to go on with the relationship after the Premarital counseling, we recommend that you allow a minimum period of 6 months before considering another relationship.
5. Before you consider Premarital Counseling with your partner, we expect you to have known and courted each other for at least 7 months.
6. It is our policy that before you are admitted into Premarital Counseling that the man has a job that yields an income on a monthly basis, and has an accommodation.
7. In order for the registration process to be thorough, we require that the couple request for recommendation from their local church(es). The recommendation letter should be addressed to; The Executive Assistant Counseling Services, Family Worship Centre. Scan and email to comfortfasipe@fwcabuja.org
9. If a lady goes through Premarital Counseling in her fiancé’s church, she should move over to his church after the wedding since we believe in the sanctity of marriage and the oneness of the couple. Family Worship Centre will only wed couples who have gone through premarital counseling in our church.
10. If any of the intending couple’s parents do not agree with their getting married for reasons that are not biblically founded, we will intervene by mediating. If all our attempts fail, we will do our best to get a close relation (preferably an uncle) of the family who is willing to work with us to wed them. (We will do this only for Certificate carrying members and children of members of Family Worship Centre)
12. Children of committed members who live outside the country or in distant Nigerian states will be given the opportunity to undergo the class. They will go through the online premarital counseling class and then attend a One-week intensive discussion class here in Abuja. Their parents should liaise with the premarital counseling office to get more information.
13. Other eligible candidates will also be given the opportunity to undergo the class. They will go through the online premarital counseling class and then attend a One-week intensive discussion class here in Abuja.
14. Under certain peculiar situations, considering all the facts, certain exceptions shall be applied by the leadership of PMC and senior leadership of the Church.
